Nordic Heritage Center / Maine Winter Sports Center We live next to one to the top five ranked nordic centers in the world.  Did you know that?  Get out of the house and walk, nordic walk, mountain bike, snow shoe or cross country ski!  "Programs" will list current programs being offered.  Many of these are free and even offer lending equipment for free for the class.  Keep an eye on the Center... there are frequently events going on for participation or volunteering.  Don't forget that the 2010 XC Junior Olympics will be held HERE!

Calculate out the calories that you burn with your exercise or even "everyday living."  These are three of the most comprehensive and easy to use that I have found.

Amira International Emissary of Dance Middle Eastern Dance - Belly Dance.  Middle Eastern Dance is a wonderful core strengthening form of exercise, in addition to strengthening the upper back and shoulders.

Body Flex Greer Childers teaches the best deep breathing technique I know of to help expand and strengthen the lungs, ribs and thorasic diaphragm.  Excellent for anyone who wants to burn fat, put more oxygen into their body, build strength and tone.  This may be done from a wheel chair, sitting or standing.  Only 18-20 minutes a day!

Core Perfomance For the more serious exerciser or someone who really wants to work on Core Body Strength (those central muscles that maintain your trunk, balance and move those arms and legs), check out the book and DVD from Core Performance.  This is the program that will challenge your balance and help you learn how to prevent the average musculoskeletal injuries of everyday living.
